So, Eb's giving us something interesting on the side with his eyes. He's got plugged ducts (which all of the kids had to some degree, but his are long-lasting and unrelenting. We are wiping goobies out of his eyes all. day. long.) and he's also got a "lazy eye". The plugged ducts will likely resolve on their own, but they're taking WAY longer to do so than it did for the other kids. If we do decide to move ahead to surgically repair the lazy eye (very probable that he will need this done), they will need to surgically open the tear ducts and let those heal first so the goobies don't infect the incisions for the lazy-eye surgery.
Additionally, the eye doctor wants us to do patching with Eben to encourage his left eye to get stronger. Yesterday was his first day - he needs to have it covered for one 30-minute stretch every day - not bad. But I had to laugh when he woke up from his nap, and was, apparently, self-patching!! You get enough goobers in your eye and you can glue it shut all on your own. [grin] He even "picked" the correct eye! Yuck!!!!
