Reuben has been able to join in in a meaningful way for a number of around-the-yard tasks this year. Here he is helping Dad move mulch.
Hot days are good for getting out the splashing pool.
Three girls watering their horses.
That's the horse my uncle made for me when I was a little girl!
Notice anything unusual about Evania's horse?
Krassi loves playing next to the pool - he can get VERY wet splashing!
Funny face in the grass.
Action shot at a playground.
And Reuben
We lost a big branch out of our monster crab-apple tree. The tomato plants survived, but their trellis (identical to the one on the right of this photo) was completed demolished.
We had a friend come along with us so we could make better use of the playground. She is so sweet with Krassimir.
Picking black raspberries. Yum!
Every time I see this shot of Reuben it makes me think of Harrison Ford. Silly boy. ;)
And black currants! It's so much fun to have a yard with so many things to eat in it.
Krassimir is getting the idea of unwrapping birthday presents! He was very interested in checking out what was in his bag.
Rinnah, too, had a great time. Five years old is perfect for birthdays.
Grandma and Gloria are almost matching!
Reuben's occupational therapist gave him a neat puzzle - it's mix and match, so a great blend of fine motor and fun and silly, and great to do with siblings, too.
My first and my youngest. ;) He's so good with babies. Too bad he's never getting married (according to him.) But he'll make a great uncle someday. ;)
We were at a party at a playground, and Reuben was coming off a really bad run of seizures. He spent the entire party laying in the wagon more or less asleep.
Owen munching on popcorn WAY up in the air.
Evania got to try cotton candy for the first time!
Stair steps
Pretty girl with her daddy
Reuben ALSO got a fun birthday present from his old physical therapist - a foot-powered WATER rocket launcher! It's even fun without the rocket - great for hot days.
Love how our kids swarm over a pile of mulch!
Reuben got so hungry shoveling mulch that he made himself lunch. ;) He got out a plate, and the bag of bread scraps I have drying for making bread crumbs. Yum.
Filling water balloons with friends in the rain.
Back at his fountain.
With road work in front of our house, we requested the colored concrete they were discarding, and put Owen to work with a sledge hammer breaking it up.
We're using the broken concrete to build a gabion wall at the front edge of the hill in our front yard.
Owen wanted a photo of the neat horizontal rock he found when he smashed up this piece. It's kind of fun how you can see me and the yellow sledge hammer handle reflected in his glasses.
Those little girls almost always have their babies with them.
There's Rinnah with a baby doll and a baby sister.
These two have LOVED helping with the gabion wall. They'll fill the wheelbarrow with me, and then place the rocks in the cage with me.
Or with Daddy, depending on the day! So good to be able to work together.
Evania's pretty proud of what she's accomplished!
